Therapy Grounded In Depth, Safety, and Clinical Integrity
Custom Therapy Intensives Tailored To You
Has something happened that’s left you unsure of yourself or where your life is headed? Do you struggle in relationships, even when you want things to be different? Have you spent years talking about a loss or painful experience but still feel weighed down?
I’m Laura Walton, LMFT. I offer in-person therapeutic intensives at my Scottsdale, Arizona office for adults who want focused, individualized support around grief, trauma, and other significant life experiences with an ongoing emotional impact.
This is not simply several regular therapy sessions compressed into one day. It’s an intensive and intentional therapeutic program that includes preparation, individualized treatment planning, concentrated therapeutic work, integration, and thoughtful follow-up recommendations.
Go Deeper Than Weekly Therapy With A Customized Intensive Program
Traditional weekly therapy can be incredibly valuable. But sometimes, it’s just not enough time or support for certain kinds of work.
A therapeutic intensive gives us more uninterrupted time to stay with what is emerging. It intentionally creates more time within one therapy session for depth, processing, regulation, and integration.
It may also be a good fit if your schedule makes weekly therapy difficult. Many in Scottsdale, Phoenix, and throughout Arizona prefer setting aside a half-day, full day, or several days for focused therapeutic work.
Who Are Therapeutic Intensives For?
An intensive may also be worth exploring if you are dealing with:
Trauma or a distressing past experience
Complicated, traumatic, or unresolved grief
The death of someone or something important to you
Relationship trauma or a painful breakup
Difficult family or relational patterns
Shame, guilt, anger, fear, or other persistent emotions
A significant life transition or identity shift
An experience that changed how you see yourself or your life
Feeling emotionally or physically “stuck” despite previous therapy
Every intensive is different because every person comes in with a different history, nervous system, set of experiences, and goals. You do not need to arrive with the perfect explanation for what you want to work on.
Types Of Therapy For Your Intensive
I’m trained in multiple approaches because I don’t believe every person should be treated with the same technique. Depending on your needs, I may incorporate one or several of these modalities:
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to work with distressing or emotionally charged experiences
Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) to gently work with early shock and threat responses
Brainspotting to access experiences that may be difficult to reach through words alone
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to work with distressing memories and emotional responses
Clinical hypnotherapy to access deeper patterns and beliefs
Induced After-Death Communication (IADC) when appropriate for grief following a death
Mindfulness practices, trauma-informed yoga and body-based practices, attachment- and relationship-informed work, and other trauma- and grief-informed interventions are also available.
What Does a Therapeutic Intensive Include?
Every therapy intensive follows a structured process. The specific experience will vary based on your goals, history, the modality, and package length.
Complimentary Consultation
We’ll start with a free 20-minute phone or telehealth consultation.
This allows us to talk about why you’re considering an intensive, what you hope to work on, and whether this format may be appropriate for your needs.
Intake & Assessment
If you are new to my practice, we’ll complete an intake and assessment.
I want to understand your history, current circumstances, support system, goals, and anything that may affect how we approach the work. Existing clients may need less preparation.
Individualized Treatment Planning
Before we begin, we’ll identify the area or goals we want to focus on and discuss what the intensive may look like. I may have a general plan going into the day, but therapy is responsive. We will adjust based on what arises and what you need.
Focused Therapeutic Work
During the intensive itself, we’ll engage in focused therapeutic work using one or several approaches.
Breaks are intentionally built into the experience. Rest, food, hydration, movement, grounding, and time to let things settle are not interruptions to the process—they are part of it.
Integration & Post-Care
We’ll finish by talking about what you noticed, what may need continued attention, and how to support yourself after the intensive.
Your recommendations may include personalized exercises, reflection, continued therapy, additional integration sessions, resources, or outside referrals when appropriate.
Half-Day, Full-Day & Multi-Day Intensives
I offer several formats so we can choose the amount of time that makes the most sense for your goals. We will discuss the most appropriate format during your consultation and assessment.
Half-Day Intensives
A half-day intensive may be appropriate when you want focused time around a particular memory, experience, relationship, loss, or therapeutic goal without committing to a full day. This can also be a helpful introduction to intensive work.
Full-Day Intensives
A full-day intensive creates more room for deeper therapeutic work as well as intentional breaks for rest, nourishment, grounding, and integration. We allow the pace to respond to what your nervous system needs throughout the day.
Multi-Day Intensives
Some experiences may benefit from being explored across more than one day. Multi-day intensives provide additional time for processing and integration while allowing the work to unfold in stages.

FAQs About Therapeutic Intensives
What Can We Work On During My Intensive?
Every intensive is different because every person comes in with a different history, nervous system, set of experiences, and goals.
We might focus on processing one particular event or memory. Or the work may involve a larger emotional theme that has followed you across different areas of life.
How much does a therapy intensive cost?
Pricing will depend on the format and level of support included. Please reach out for current half-day, full-day, multi-day, and package pricing. My current in-office schedule is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, so multi-day options will be arranged around available in-person dates.
Do I need to be a current client with you?
No. Therapeutic intensives are available to both new and existing clients.
New clients will complete an intake and assessment before the intensive so I can understand your history, goals, and whether concentrated therapeutic work is clinically appropriate.
How do I choose which therapy modality?
You are welcome to tell me about modalities you are interested in or have used before, but I do not approach intensives as a menu where you purchase a specific technique. Together, we will determine which approaches make sense for you.
Are therapy intensives only for trauma?
No. Trauma is one area I work with extensively, but intensives may also focus on grief, attachment wounds, relationship experiences, significant life transitions, persistent emotional patterns, or other experiences that continue to affect you deeply.
Can I do an intensive if I’m already in therapy?
Yes. You do not necessarily need to leave your current therapist to work with me for an intensive. In many cases, concentrated work can complement an existing therapeutic relationship.
Who may not be a good candidate?
More therapy in less time is not automatically better. Therapeutic intensives are generally not appropriate for someone experiencing acute psychiatric instability, active psychosis or mania, significant immediate safety concerns, or symptoms that require a higher level of care.
What is required to reserve my intensive?
A 50% deposit is required to reserve your intensive dates. The remaining 50% is due on the day of the intensive. If you need to cancel, at least 48 hours' notice is required for the deposit to be eligible for a refund.
How do I get started?
The first step is a complimentary 20–30 minute phone or telehealth consultation. We’ll talk about what has been bringing you to this work, what you hope to focus on, and whether an intensive feels like the right format.
